The IT company Andersen invites an experienced Backend Developer (Node.js) to join its team for working with a company from Switzerland.

The customer is an integrative, technologically leading company, its software helps cities, regions, and utilities to become emission-free. It collects and manages all climate-relevant data and provides a suite of modular applications to better analyze, simulate, plan, and communicate their climate efforts.

The project is an innovative platform for internal and external communication providing transparency to all stakeholders of a region (e.g. citizens, politicians, utilities, local companies).

Tech stack: NodeJS, TypeScript, NestJS, Sequelize, Protobuf, TSOA, NX, k9s, Docker, Jest, PostgreSQL, Redis, grpc.js, AWS, GitHub Actions, DynamoDB.

Responsibilities:

• Investigation and evaluate new opportunities, technologies, and tools to improve the product.
• Implementation of new backend features according to design specifications.
• Writing and maintaining unit and integration tests (Jest) to ensure product reliability.
• Support, refactoring, and optimizing existing codebase for performance and maintainability.
• Updating and maintaining dependencies and packages at the highest stable versions.
• Preparing technical concepts for design-based functionality, including database models, API endpoint documentation, and service specifications.
• Contributing to architectural discussions and decisions for backend microservices.
• Working with databases (PostgreSQL, Redis, DynamoDB), caching layers, and AWS storage (S3).
• Actively communicating in English with international teammates in a Kanban setup.

Must-haves:

• Hands-on experience in commercial Node.js development for 3+ years.
• Understanding of TypeScript features.
• Knowledge of Nest.js framework.
• Skilled in building and maintaining microservices architectures, with practical knowledge of TSOA, Protobuf, and gRPC communication.
• Solid experience with databases: PostgreSQL as a primary database, Redis for caching, and exposure to DynamoDB for cloud-native solutions.
• Proficient in testing practices (unit and integration testing with Jest).
• Knowledge of cloud services (AWS).
• Demonstrates experience in refactoring and maintaining legacy code, package version management, and ensuring codebase scalability.
• Has worked in Agile/Kanban teams, comfortable with flexible schedules and distributed setups.
• Communicative, open to collaboration, and proactive.
• Level of English – from Upper-Intermediate and above.

Nice-to-have:

• Experienced in CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Docker, Kubernetes), able to manage multi-environment deployments.
• Some experience with Devops would be a plus.
