MSF (Médecins Sans Frontières) is an inter­national, independent, medical humanitarian organization. It delivers emergency medical support to people affected by military conflicts, natural disasters, epidemics, forced migration or displacement in over 70 countries all over the world.

MSF implements a mental health project in the city of Almaty in Kazakhstan to deliver medical and psychosocial support for vulnerable members of the Qandastar community.

Main Purpose

Under the guide of HP manager, implement Health Promotion and Community Engagement activities with patients and local communities to raise awareness of the MSF project services and their knowledge and skills on relevant medical topics.

Accountabilities

• Promote MSF services in the communities through providing awareness raising sessions, outreach activities and digital communication channels
• Conduct community mapping activities and establish links with existing local community structures, leaders and active key members
• Conduct regular community-based activities such as community meetings and events
• According to medical priorities, deliver information to the patients and community on specific health topics
• Collect all type of information related to specific health and living conditions of the community, to identify the most vulnerable members to target.
• Establish and maintain contacts with social partners, including other NGO’s, governmental health services that can provide answers to social problems.
• Participate in creation of any material needed for the activities of information, education and communication.
• Conduct qualitative assessments among MSF patients and community beneficiaries to understand and identify community needs, and overall patient satisfaction.
• Assess the impact of activities (with questions, verifications and behaviours observations), and report problems, success and constraints to the HP manager.
• Actively participate in project related meetings
• Preparing monthly reports on the implemented activities

Education

• Education level in social science, social communication, nurse or teaching
• Required to receive the necessary internal MSF training on health promotion and community-engagement

Experience – at least two years

Preferable previous experience in teaching, nursing or social work, community mobilization (advantage)
