Department of Marketing, Communications and Public Relations is looking for applicants for the following position:
Job Title: Director
Division: Research, International and Strategic Affairs
Department: Marketing, Communications and Public Relations
Position reports to: Provost and GDP
Job Purpose Summary: Develop the Strategic Marketing plan and be responsible for its execution. Lead, organize, and coordinate the work within KIMEP University’s Marketing, Communications and Public Relations Department.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
Management Duties:

- Lead the department
- Responsible for the work within the Department, inclusive of work assignment;
- Responsible for cross training within the Department;
- Oversees activities of departmental staff members, including student assistants;
- Liaise with other departments regarding Marketing, Communications and PR matters
- Execute on marketing plan and prepare the report;
- Evaluate and counsel subordinates on job performance
- Responsible for the MCPR budget, budget monitoring and provide due budget reports
- Lead the work with Agency’s, at least 5 year’s experience;
- Event Management experience. Being responsible for organize events for on a large scale (Graduation Ceremony, Conferences);
- Crisis management, reflect on crisis situations and prepare the crisis management actions;
Marketing:
- Develop advertising and marketing strategy/strategic plan, develop a promotion and communication plan for the University and review and revise the plan as needed;
- Meet bi-weekly with all Deans, Director of Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar’s Office and Student Affairs to discuss all upcoming marketing needs and how MCPR will address them;
- Initiate and assess market research and its results;
- Develop and updаtеKIMEP University’s marketing policies and procedures;
- Annually, assess Colleges’ and Departments’ marketing needs and support
- Responsible for keeping the marketing materials current
- Pure understanding of Brand Marketing (image, positioning, awareness);
- ATL and BTL marketing experience;
- Initiate the tender (for Digital promotion, PR promotion, Procurement);
- Digital Marketing knowledge. Understanding of digital tools, assessment of agency’s work on digital promotion. Be familiar with Google Analytics is required;
- Content creation. Lead the work with MCPR Production team;
- Initiate Cross – Marketing activities. With Global and local brands;
- Initiate and prepare the marketing (budget) strategy for new college or programs launch;
Public Relations:
- Represent KIMEP University at official events;
- Major University News should be posted on the Website and social media without a request form;
- Coordinate development of PR materials both within the department and throughout the University;
- Coordinate distribution of PR materials, including but not limited to, the KIMEP University web-site, social media, printed flyers, posters and brochures, KIMEP newsletters and KIMEP University pages in social networks;
- Ensure Social Media is up-to-date, visually appealing and creates a sense of energy;
- Ensure communication of a singular, University-wide public image;
- Ensure sending press releases on a timely basis;
- Ensure issuing press releases on a timely basis
- Build relationship with media outlets in Almaty, throughout Kazakhstan and internationally with the aim of generating positive press coverage of KIMEP.
- Be the focal point of all external relations
- Execute on University messaging and imaging
- Work experience with PR agency;
- Work experience on publication on Mass Media;
Communications:
- Supervise the development and maintenance of the KIMEP University website;
- Establish guidelines for KIMEP’s University web presence;
- Coordinate development of KIMEP University wide contact databases;
- Serve as a communications liaison between external parties and divisions within KIMEP University.
Perform other duties as might be directed and assigned by the supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with major in Marketing/ PR/Communications
- At least 5 years of progressive experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified in the job description
- At least 2 years’ of proven and progressive experience in a managerial or supervisory position
- Experience in ATL and BTL advertising and marketing projects
- Experience in Digital Marketing
- Experience in project management
- Past leadership experience
- Ability to communicate with different departments and department heads
- Strict attention to details
- Excellent communications (writing and speaking) skills in Russian and English
- Ability to motivate others
- Experience in creative media (including Web, print, photography, electronic)
- Proficient in MS Office, e-mail and other modern office equipment and tools
- Demonstrated results
- Knowledge of marketing metrics
- Initiative, creative & flexible
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in Marketing/PR preferred from an accredited western university; 7 years of relevant work experience in advertising and marketing, 5 years of progressive managerial experience, Kazakh language would be a plus, active user of social media, experience in effective Marketing/PR campaigns.
