Duties of a Civil Engineer as a Site Supervisor
A Civil Engineer serving as a Site Supervisor plays a critical role in managing on-site construction activities and acts as the link between the project management team, consultants, contractors, and workers.

1. Project Execution
* Supervise daily construction activities according to drawings and technical specifications
* Plan daily, weekly, and monthly work schedules
* Coordinate subcontractors and work teams
* Monitor project progress according to the timeline

2. Quality Control
* Ensure work is executed according to standards and technical specifications
* Inspect incoming materials (concrete, steel reinforcement, soil, etc.)
* Supervise field and laboratory tests
* Prevent non-compliant construction activities

3. Workforce Management
* Assign tasks to engineers, technicians, and laborers
* Supervise and evaluate staff performance
* Maintain discipline and organization on site
* Resolve conflicts among site personnel

4. Materials and Equipment Management
* Control material delivery and usage
* Ensure proper storage and inventory management
* Plan timely procurement of materials
* Monitor proper use of machinery and equipment

5. Safety
* Enforce safety regulations and procedures
* Ensure the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
* Prevent workplace accidents
* Report and investigate incidents

6. Technical Documentation and Reporting
* Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports
* Record site meeting minutes
* Review and approve contractors’ payment certificates
* Communicate with consultants and clients
Key Skills Required
* Strong knowledge of construction drawings and quantity surveying
* Familiarity with software such as AutoCAD and office
* Leadership skills
* Problem-solving ability
* Strong communication skills
